The 2025 Flathead Classic Kicks Off With a Night to Remember
The Flathead Classic launched in spectacular fashion last night. It featured an opening evening that will go down as one of the most unprecedented in the event’s 31 year history.
For the first time ever, entry to Registration Night was entirely free, inviting the entire community to come together in mutual celebration of the country’s most iconic fishing tournament. The stage was alight with the unmistakable sound of Australia’s own Tom Busby, whose live performance had the crowd in high spirits and set the tone for an epic evening.
However, the entertainment was only part of the story. XXXX brought the fun with the return of their Gold Rush competition. Quickly, they filled the air with cheers, laughs and friendly banter; reminding everyone what the Classic is all about. No one left the Gold Rush empty-handed, but you had to be in it to win it.
On the grounds, Surf Coast Marine, Suzuki Marine Australia, and Quintrex unveiled this year’s prize boats. Fishos all round dreamt of their shot at glory as these incredible vessels got their chance to shine under the lights of the event. The admiration they drew definitely made them one of the event’s spectacles. Meanwhile, Shimano sweetened the deal for our anglers by announcing free reel servicing over the coming nights - a welcome perk as our competitors prepared for the days ahead.
The Sponsor Hub was buzzing, with stalls and showcases offering a chance for all anglers and fishing enthusiasts alike to connect with the brands that make the Classic happen. The Mad Hueys even shared exciting news: the introduction of a Junior Ambassador to their team in an awesome move to elevate the next generation of fishing legends.
As speeches rolled on and community legend David Green shared his words of wisdom, there was a palpable sense of pride, anticipation and hunger in the air. With 31 years of tradition behind it, the Flathead Classic continues to evolve as an event while staying true to its roots; fishing, friendship and community spirit.
If the first night was anything to go by, this year’s Flathead Classic is shaping up to be one of the biggest and most exciting yet. The fish are waiting, the stakes are set, and the competitors are eager and ready.
