How to Use the Track My Fish App at the Flathead Classic
With just days to go until the Gold Coast Flathead Classic, competitors are being urged to make sure they are tournament ready — and that starts with the Track My Fish (TMF) app.
The app is the official platform for recording catches throughout the event, ensuring smooth scoring, fair play, and accurate results. Here’s everything anglers need to know.
Why Track My Fish Matters
Every fish submitted during the Classic must be logged through TMF. This allows marshals and scorers to process entries in real-time, cutting down delays and keeping the leaderboards live. Getting set up before the first cast is essential.
Getting Started
Download the app – available on both the Apple App Store and Google Play.
Log in – use the same email address you registered with.
Use your real name, no nicknames.
Allow permissions – camera (to take photos) and location (to confirm where catches are recorded).
Test it now – place any object (a lure, ruler, even your tackle box) on your brag mat, take a photo, and upload. A ✔️ confirmation means you’re good to go.
How to Record Your Catch
Place the fish flat on your official brag mat.
Make sure the nose is at the “0 cm” mark and the tail is pinched to show maximum length.
Keep the entire fish visible, including the nose, tail, and measurement markings.
Place your tournament angler card (issued at registration) clearly in the photo.
Submit the photo via the TMF app, enter the details, and wait for the ✔️ confirmation.
Online & Offline Modes
The Classic covers a large area of waterways, and reception isn’t always guaranteed. TMF has been built to handle both situations:
Online Mode: If you have signal, your catch will upload instantly and show as confirmed.
Offline Mode: If reception drops out, the app will store your catch safely on your device. As soon as you return to service, it will automatically upload in the order caught. (Switch to online when back in reception)
Tip: Always check for the ✔️ confirmation once you’re back in coverage. This ensures every catch is safely recorded.
What Will Disqualify a Photo
Marshals have reminded anglers that poor photos will cost valuable points. To avoid disqualification:
Don’t forget the angler card in the shot.
Don’t cover the tail with your hands or let shadows blur the length.
Don’t upload dark, unclear, or incomplete images.
Always use your registration email to log in.
Handy Pro Tips
Take 2–3 quick shots before releasing the fish — you’ll always have a clear option.
Keep a power bank on the boat to avoid running flat mid-session.
Upload your catch immediately so nothing gets missed in the rush.
Wet the brag mat before laying down your fish to protect its slime coat.
